As part of Virtue's birthday month, we answered a few questions about ourselves and our favorite products to help you get to know our team a little better. Today, we're sharing a spotlight from one of our Scientists:
Curly
Virtue allows me to color without losing my curls. Having naturally curly hair, my hair tends to be on the dry/frizzy/fuzzy side. When I highlight it, those strands gets more frizzy, damaged and tend to be a little straighter than everywhere else.
Virtue helps to moisturize AND strengthen my hair so it literally bounces back into springy and seemingly weightless curls.
My normal routine:
Full Shampoo every other day for volume and to cleanse my hair without stripping it.
Recovery Conditioner: every day - mainly mid-shaft to ends - to moisturize.
Uplifted Volumizing Whip all over which works as a leave-in conditioner for me. It makes my hair feel so soft and really brings out my curls.
After highlighting or particularly damaging activities (swimming, heat styling, etc.):
Recovery Shampoo instead of Full Shampoo to add an extra kick of moisture to my very dried out hair.
Split End Serum to quickly erase all the damage I just did and make my hair feel soft again. It also helps with the tangles.
I have done a lot of researching on how best to tame my curly hair. What I found out was that my hair is low porosity and therefore doesn’t take up water or product easily.
To get my best hair, I apply the products to very wet hair and squish it into my curls. I then use a t-shirt to scrunch my curls some more and remove excess water and product (if there is any). Applying these products this way has made my curls look more defined and bouncier than ever before. I would say this method has really helped boost the benefits I have seen from the Volumizing Whip and Split End Serum.
My favorite thing about Virtue has been watching what started as a science project turn into a product that truly impacts people’s hair (and lives). I feel grateful for being able to contribute to the scientific team and learning every day from all of the talented people who have brought Virtue this far.
