As summer wanes and the leaves turn to their autumnal palette, we’re thinking more than ever about scent. This time of year we embrace more than just sweaters and chunky knit socks; we delight in the lingering notes of pumpkin as we pass the coffee shop, and we’re baking with extra dashes of cinnamon and vanilla. Fragrance is extremely important to us here at Virtue® because it plays a critical role in the efficacy and effectiveness of our products. Before we go in search of another spiced latte, we’d like to share a bit about what makes our scents so special––and your hair so healthy.

When Virtue® leading fragrance expert Lisa Wilson set out to develop the scent behind our products that soothe frizz-prone hair, she had to ask herself, “How do you design a scent that smells and feels like it’s taking care of your hair without being too heavy? What will feel like it’s calming frizz and moisturizing the strands, but also like it’s rinsing clean?”

It wasn’t easy (nothing worth having ever is, right?), but what she landed on was a breath of fresh air: a restorative blend of herbs, fruits, and citrus, while incorporating soothing lavender and fresh mint essential oils.

“It’s hard to believe a fragrance can help tell this story, but when it has essential oils that are known to soothe, protect, and smell great...it all comes together,” says Lisa. So what’s the function behind each fragrance?

Soothing, aromatic lavender provides the nurture factor, helping in the nourishment of hair and moisturization of the scalp and hair strands. It also supports the scalp, contributing to a healthier head of hair. Orange oil, which is rich in vitamin C, gives a nutritive essence to hair follicles. And mint, the ultimate marker of refreshment, helps add shine and gloss to the hair.

Together these ingredients, complemented by notes of pepper, balsam, and cold-pressed lemon for depth and complexity, create an environment exactly as intended—soothing for you and your strands.
