Here Debby and Marc from our Product Development team share the secrets on how our Flourish Shampoo and Conditioner are made to support healthy hair growth and give you thicker, stronger strands with every wash.
Flourish products are the only hair growth-support products to use Alpha Keratin 60ku CLINICAL®. Can you explain what this protein combination is exactly?
Marc: Virtue®’s proprietary Alpha Keratin 60ku Clinical® is a blend of protein fractions called Alpha Keratin and Gamma Keratin that support the strength and resiliency of strands to encourage new hair growth.
How did you land on the other key ingredients?
Marc: All Flourish products have been formulated with ingredients that work synergistically with Alpha Keratin 60ku Clinical®. The shampoo contains a signal tetrapeptide and Red Clover Flower Extract to stimulate follicles, as well as Sodium Hyaluronate, which nourishes and hydrates new hair growth. Similarly, the conditioner contains the signal tetrapeptide and Red Clover Flower Extract, as well as Cyperus Root Oil for its weightless moisture replenishment and protection.
Debby: We felt it was important to provide lightweight hydration—as to not weigh down strands. Also in the conditioner, we use probiotic ferment because it’s a microbiome booster that’s known to nourish the scalp, help decrease irritation, and support cellular oxygen consumption. A healthy microbiome plays a major role in growing (and maintaining) a healthy scalp, and subsequently, healthy hair.
What else makes Flourish Shampoo & Conditioner so good for those experiencing hair thinning or loss?
Marc: The formulas were developed specifically for fine, thinning hair and those prone to hair loss or shedding. The shampoo is a very gentle, sulfate-free cleanser that provides lightweight moisture without drying out strands or making them limp or flat. Similarly, the conditioner is weightless, and provides penetrating conditioning and hydration without being heavy or making the hair flat. The real secret, though, is the Alpha Keratin 60ku Clinical®, which provides Virtue®’s damage-seeking repair along with added strength and resiliency to fragile strands.
How long did it take to develop these formulas?
Marc: All Virtue® and Flourish® product take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years to formulate, refine, and perfect. Following that, we perform extensive in-house testing at our lab to validate that formulas are (a) highly efficacious and address the desired benefit and (b) that our Alpha Keratin 60ku® performs the way it’s supposed to. Once approved, products are sent to a third party to perform clinical testing and/or a consumer perception panel.
