Ask Debby...
Your bottles say free of Parabens, Sulfates, Phthalates, Color & Dye, why does that matter? Are they really that bad?
As Virtue™ Labs was created to enhance hair health, we are also concerned about the overall health of our consumers and the environment. Some of these ingredients (above) have not been proven to be harmful in any way, but are controversial at this time pending more data. Others have been linked to health issues, increased irritation potential or environmental degradation at elevated levels. Given our focus on hair health and overall health, Virtue™ Labs has chosen to be cautious and adhere to more stringent guidelines for “clean beauty” to minimize any potential for health risk or irritation by our valued consumers.
Are your ingredients all natural? If not, why?
Virtue™ Labs uses natural ingredients wherever and whenever possible without compromise to product quality or performance. While adhering to our “clean beauty” credo, we do not claim to be 100% natural. We strive to utilize natural and naturally derived ingredients wherever possible; however, there are cases when synthetic ingredients are more efficacious, less irritating and / or preserve the products more effectively for the shelf life of the product. This follows our philosophy of being consumer focused and product performance and quality driven.
Why is your keratin any better than "regular keratin”?
Our keratin, Alpha Keratin 60ku®, is a full, native, human hair protein. Alpha Keratin 60ku® is not broken like hydrolyzed keratins therefore it mimics the same natural keratin found in your hair.
How does your keratin work?
Our proprietary Alpha Keratin 60ku® is extracted from human hair keratin protein and, thus, our bodies recognize it as our own. Not only does the proprietary extraction process yield a more powerful protein, but our extensive research has proven that it is a “smart protein” in that it is attracted to the areas of the hair that are most damaged and are most in need of repair. Essentially, it provides smoothing, resurfacing and filling in cracks of damage where it is needed most to repair.
Why do your products contain silicone? Isn’t silicone bad for hair?
While silicone is not natural, silicone is not bad for hair as long as the optimal silicones are used at the optimal levels in each respective product. Our formulas are created by some of the most experienced and acclaimed cosmetic Chemists for hair care in the beauty industry. Their extensive experience and exhaustive lab experiments yield the highest performing and highest quality products in combination with our proprietary Alpha Keratin 60ku® groundbreaking benefits. Our formulas are evaluated very critically and then tested to confirm the performance benchmarks are met and exceeded. In short, there are often not suitable substitutes for silicone that provide the slip, smoothing and shine without the alternatives being heavy and greasy on the hair. This also supports our philosophy of performance and product quality first.
What is Colorkick made out of?
Color Kick is made of our proprietary Alpha Keratin that is extracted in such a way that the keratin remains chemically activated. This allows the protein to interact with the dye molecules in the bowl as well as the proteins that are chemically treated in the hair to repair the hair while coloring.
The only way to “fix" a split end is to cut it, so how do you make the claim that you can heal it?
Virtue™ Labs’ Split End Serum is a lightweight balm that blends our proprietary Alpha Keratin 60ku® with polymers that seal the hair strand at the end. This product has been clinically tested and proven to repair split ends. Our other products provide the general damage repair inherent in our proprietary protein.
My hair gets really dry and static-y in the winter, do you have a product that will help that won’t make it greasy?
Yes, our 6-in-1 styler is a perfect lightweight cream that will help polish down those flyaways and static. Use it on damp hair and then style. Once its dry and styled, take a pea size, rub it through your hands and palm through lightly on the surface of you hair.
Do I need to change my hair products in the winter?
It’s always good to change your daily hair care regime based on your environment. You may want to switch your shampoo and conditioner to something that’s a bit richer to keep hair hydrated and healthy throughout the winter like Virtue’s Recovery or Smooth conditioners. The dryness of winter always zaps the moisture from you hair, so we also highly suggest masking twice a week for overly parched hair with Virtue’s Restorative Treatment mask.
Who is the best candidate for Colorckick?
Really anyone who colors their hair is a great candidate. ColorKick works to mitigate the damage that the coloring process does to your hair, during the service. We have seen great success with cumulative results as well!
