2019 Academy Awards: Sultry Bob
Charlize Theron transformed into a sultry goddess with her freshly chopped and darkened strands, at the suggestion of Virtue Creative Director Adir Abergel, for last nights Academy Awards.
“When I saw the beautiful light Japanese indigo fabric on her Dior dress, I immediately knew I wanted to create a dramatic contrast with her hair. I envisioned taking her hair to a luxe and rich shade of brown that would enhance those gorgeous blue eyes. I wanted a sexy side swept bob that was luxurious, timeless and chic. My vision for the entire look was for it to feel really luxe: healthy, glowing hair with rich color styled into amazing sexy bob. Charlize is an incredible creative artist who is fearless and willing to experiment. When I presented her the concept to go brunette for the Oscars, she totally trusted me. I think what’s really beautiful is that hair is one of your greatest accessories and changing your hair color is an amazing way to play with your look.” - Abergel shared.
He began by prepping Theron’s hair with the Restorative Treatment Mask amped up with a shot of ColorKick™ – the first-ever hair filler made from 100% pure, human keratin. Added to the mask, ColorKick boosts color vibrancy while enhancing the health of her hair.
He then towel dried her hair and prepped with our soon to be released Volumizing Primer (click the link to learn more!) at the roots to create memory and volume that would prime her hair for the perfect blow out.
Adir then began to create that “sexy side swept bob” with a deep side part. He smoothed damp hair from roots to ends with our Polish Un-Frizz Cream, and then blow dried the hair with a round brush to create bounce and movement.
To finish the look he passed over the ends with a flat iron to emphasize the blunt cut.
