2020 British Film Academy Awards: Saoirse Ronan's Feminine Pompadour

Actress and BAFTA nominee Saoirse Ronan stunned on the red carpet this evening with a 60’s rocker inspired up do with a twist by celebrity hairstylist, Adir Abergel, using Virtue products.

Inspiration

“I was inspired to create a rockabilly-esque pompadour, but wanted to keep it very feminine and soft,” said Abergel.

The Look

The shape mirrors the silhouette of a classic greaser coif. Abergel added a feminine touch by creating a soft, floral-like faux bang to sit gently across her forehead. In the back, he weaved some beautiful black twine into the twisted back details of the updo.

How To
  1. Abergel prepped the hair with Virtue Volumizing Primer to create the foundation. Saoirse’s hair is incredibly soft and healthy, so the primer gave Abergel the optimal base needed to shape the style.
  2. Smooth out and blow-dry the hair with a round brush until the hair is 100% dry.
  3. Divide the hair into two sections, top half and bottom half. Twist the hair into a modern French twist in the back securing it with pins first, adding twine for extra security and detail. Twist the top section up leaving the very front out to form that beautiful floral shape across the forehead.
  4. With a light touch, gently brush over the front of the hairline to create a bit of fluff around the face. You want the sides to be tight to the head yet still soft around the face.
  5. Finish the style with the lightest mist of Virtue Shaping Spray to lock in place.
