Extend The Life Of Your Blowout, with Liz Jung

There is nothing like that fresh bouncy blowout you get at the end of your salon appointment. It adds a skip to your step, and you just wish your hair could look that good every day. What if we told you you CAN extend your perfectly coiffed style and live that salon-high for a few more days?

Liz Jung, Meche Salon LA

Just follow these simple steps from colorist Liz Jung; known for her bombshell post-color blowout at MéCHE Salon in Los Angeles.

To start Liz tells us it’s important to not use too many products on day 1. You’ll be building product over the days and starting too heavy can weight hair down and cut into the number of days you get out of your blowout. Liz suggests starting with a little Lifting Powder at the root, a dime-size amount of 6-in-1 Styler through mid-shaft to protect from the heat, and Split End Serum on the ends.

When it comes time to go to bed Liz tells us to prep hair with Dry Shampoo targeted into the roots “it will absorb oils you naturally produce while you sleep”. "Then," she continues, “twist into a high topknot and secure with a claw clip. Make sure you leave the last few inches out of the twist so they don’t get crimped over night.”

Jung suggests either tying a silk scarf around your hair or sleeping with a silk pillowcase to avoid friction and to keep hair smooth and frizz free.

In the morning take your topknot down and refresh with products as needed. A little Dry Shampoo to absorb oil, a few puffs of Lifting Powder to put body back into the root, and a styling cream like our 6-in-1 or Unfrizz Cream (depending on hair type) on the ends to smooth and shine.

And lastly, be aware of how much your touching your hair! It feels amazing, we know, but touching your hair too much will cause it to get oily and dirty cutting into the life of your gorgeous blowout!
