2018 Met Gala: Angelic French Twist
“I wanted to create something that felt minimal yet modern.” — Adir Abergel said of his latest Met Gala creation worn by longtime client and friend Anne Hathaway.
Taking inspiration from Hathaway’s red Valentino gown Abergel translated the nights theme, Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, into an elegant updo adorned with a halo-like quills that he custom-made for the event.
Adir began this look like many others with our Full Shampoo and Full Conditioner; a light weight formula that gently cleanses and restores hair to it’s healthiest state, creating a perfectly primed palette.
He then prepped the hair with the Uplifted Volumizing Whip from roots to ends to add moisture and shine for a polished look, and blowdried the hair completely.
Next, he created barrel curls with a 3/4” curling iron and pinned in place to cool. Once cooled, he brushed out the curls and applied our *NEW* Lifting Powder all over the roots to create texture and tease free volume.
Abergel then pulled Hathaway’s hair back into a French twist and secured with hairpins. He locked in the look with our Finale Shaping Spray for long lasting hold to carry her from the red carpet, to the after parties.
To finish the look he pierced the style with custom-made golden quills to create the angelic halo effect.
