As summer wanes and the leaves turn to their autumnal palette, we’re thinking more than ever about scent. This time of year we embrace more than just sweaters and chunky knit socks; we delight in the lingering notes of pumpkin as we pass the coffee shop, and we’re baking with extra dashes of cinnamon and vanilla. Fragrance is extremely important to us here at Virtue® because it plays a critical role in the efficacy and effectiveness of our products. Before we go in search of another spiced latte, we’d like to share a bit about what makes our scents so special––and your hair so healthy.

When developing high-performing damage repair products (like our Recovery Shampoo & Conditioner or Restorative Treatment Mask to name a few), it’s important to include intensely nourishing and hydrating ingredients that complement our Alpha Keratin 60ku®. But did you know that the aroma plays an important role in giving your hair its incredible health?

The fragrance for these products was thoughtfully created drop by drop and is lovingly described by our leading fragrance expert, Lisa Wilson, as “a rich, nurturing blend of creamy coconut and tropical yuzu extracts wrapped in warm woods.”

It contains cedarwood, which has a high level of sesquiterpenes, designed to promote a healthy scalp and hair follicles. This is part of what can make the hair look richer and feel healthier as it helps to enhance texture.

Benzoin was chosen for its natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory qualities, helping the hair and scalp to hold moisture and giving the illusion of a healthy sheen. This multitasking ingredient is also known to help protect from heat damage.

Wonderfully unique cypress helps tame hair and smooth strands while yuzu, a top note carefully balanced to give a burst of energy, promotes health and shine. It also provides a longer-lasting scent on the hair to signal constant protection and hydration. It’s also loaded with essential oils that have been carefully researched to contribute to healthy, shiny hair. “I LOVE this scent,” says Lisa. “It makes me smile every time I use it.”
