Hair loss is fairly common among my clients, but not always talked about or addressed.

When a client feels any sense of restoration through hair gain, their confidence is up ten fold. Even with baby hairs and new growth, it gives the feeling of hope, thus making them feel happy and confident.

Be kind not only to your hair but also to yourself. Nourishing hair with a great conditioner on the ends prevents further stress to the strands. Treat yourself to a little head massage––circulation promotes blood flow to the follicle. And try to eat a healthy, balanced diet. Getting healthy, thick hair is a job on the inside just as much as it is on the outside.

Low heat! Start with lightweight products like Healing Oil and Flourish® Volumizing Styler, and blow dry on low-to-medium heat; it helps keep fullness. Applying too much heat, especially at roots, collapses volume.

With hair that’s thinning or shedding, I really try and be mindful of the products being used, but also the amount of physical tension I’m applying while brushing or combing.

I typically do an in-depth consultation to come up with a game plan to create the illusion of more hair. Cutting hair slightly more blunt, cutting bangs, or creating face-framing layers can give them the illusion of fullness.
